What better way to celebrate the holidays than by handling my Emperor Scorpion, Whip Scorpion, and several Giant Desert Hairy Scorpions!? Hell, you can handle the turtle, feed the iguana, torment the dog (I do it all the time; it's fun!), and even hold my blue-tongued skink! Here's more info on the event: It’s time for our semi-annual gathering, celebrating the Winter Solstice (whenever THAT is). The schedule is the same as two years ago: Humor, beer, eating, drinking, & rock ‘n roll begins at 4:00 P.M. Guests are encouraged to show up no later than 5:00 P.M. At 6:00 P.M., we’ll be drunk and will try to find spaces on the couch and watch our favorite holiday movie, CANNIBAL: THE MUSICAL (hell, it does have snow and a snowman)! Its politically incorrect humor, and catchy songs are the perfect ingredient for a festive winter bash! Not too offsensive, and yet not wholesome kiddy stuff either! For those of you who can join us, please don’t show up after 6:00 P.M., when the movie is in progress! Of course, guests are welcome to show up early and leave before 6:00 P.M. if you fear the movie might not be in good taste! For more details, see this Invitation.......... . http://viewmorepics. myspace.com/index.cf m?fuseaction=viewIma ge&friendID=4992 373&albumID=2777 594&imageID=6629 4943

If you have cable, be sure to watch this documentary on my favorite news station, MSNBC. Jeff Corwin (a hero of mine) hosts this vital, if not depressing look at endangered species and mankind's devastating impact on the environment. Check your local listings for time-- 100 HEARTBEATS officially airs at 8:00 P.M., but it might be something different (6:00 P.M.? 7:00 P.M.? 9:00 P.M.?) here in Arizona where we avoid all that annoying "daylight savings" crap. Naturally, there's no need to RSVP on the Calendar, since you'd be watching 100 HEARTBEATS at your own home.

We'll have a vender table (to display my new product line and maybe an iguana or two), but I was only allowed two free passes-- one for myself, and one for Jocelyn. Unfortunately, other members will have to buy their own admission tickets,. But members are welcome to sit behind the table with us and hang out (it's easier than walking and standing in the crowds all day) for an hour or two. In fact, if any of you wanted to come over well in advance and learn how to handle my temperamental Iguana, let me know! I myself need to be at the convention by 9:00 A.M. to set up my table & equipment, but the rest of you, as paying customers, may show up to hang out at any time. http://phxreptileexp o.com/

Only yesterday was I told about this event. It's really short notice, but I thought I'd try and include what little I know about this picnic thingie. I guess it's being held at "Big Ramada at South Mountain", whatever THAT is. http://www.azreptile s.com/forums/showthr ead.php?t=11633 I wish I'd have known of it a few weeks ago. Finding information on it is harder than finding a condom near Ellen Degeneres's bed, so I've no idea if this even charges admission or what.

Plenty of animal lovers also like monster movies (JAWS, ORCA, etc.), so if any of you are up for a silly zombie movie, let me know. If any of you have any ideas for animal related events, let me know. We've been to all the zoos already. Regardless, I was already planning on seeing the stupid ZOMBIELAND with a couple film-buffs. Then I decided, 'what the hell?' and am announcing the outing here as well, even though it has nothing to do with animals. T Anyway, I need to be tipsy, in order to enjoy bad comedies which pass off mutant marathon-runners as "zombies" (true zombies are slow-moving Haitians). So we'll first hit the beer (and lunch) at Gordon Biersch Brewery at 12:30 P.M., across the parking lot at: 2218 East Williams Field Road #101, Gilbert, AZ., 85296...... http://www.gordonbie rsch.com/restaurants /index.php?pg=locati on&sub=loc&l ocation_id=39 Then we'll drunkenly stumble the ten-minute (?) walk across the lot & through the food-court to the theater for the movie's 1:50 P.M. screening. People are welcome to meet us at our house before-hand, and go with us to San Tan Mall (Gordon Beirsch Brewery, Harkins Theater, etc.), in case you don't know your way around Gilbert.

I think many animal-lovers & environmentalists tend to be progressive, if I'm not mistaken. So maybe it's not such a stretch for this group to see this political, biased propaganda-driven documentary ("biased propaganda" that I happen to agree with, though I respect those who disagree as well) from the one and only Michael Moore. Ah yes, the controversial, beyond-opinionated Michael Moore; the director that people either love or hate! All opinions are valid, though I personally fall into the category of 'loving' the guy! Naturally, more conservative members might want to decline this invitation (I don't want to put anybody into an uncomfortable situation)! Anyway, we'll probably meet for the theater at around 3:30 P.M., to catch the documentary's 3:40 PM screening. Afterwards, we can get dinner at one of the nearby restaurants. http://www.movietick ets.com/house_detail .asp?house_id=6861& showdate=4

Wasps, fish, lizards & other animals are common at SlideRock Park in Sedona. We're celebrating Jocelyn's birthday on this two-day road trip. The plan is to drive (leaving well before sunrise) to Sedona on Friday, slide in the natural waterslides and jump off cliffs into the river. Then we'll stay over night at the cheapest hotel we can find, and on Saturday we might do some innertubing. Then I guess we return home on Saturday afternoon. Of course, not all invitees have to stay over night like us! We could follow each other's cars out to Sedona, and part ways whenever somebody else wanted to go back home. http://azstateparks. com/Parks/SLRO/galle ry.html

A restaurant/bar with sand & water-- in Chandler! I've never been to the place, but the concept really seems to appeal to the ocean-lover & environmentalist in me! Besides, Jocelyn's birthday is that weekend and a couple of my SCUBA-diving friends will be present. Having never been there, I don't know what to expect. All I know is it's located on Ray Road just west of 56th Street (priest) in Chandler. I know it's short notice, but please answer ("Yes", "No" or "Maybe") on the Calendar; let us know if you'll be joining us for a beer or two. http://photos1.meetu pstatic.com/photos/e vent/3/9/5/1/highres _

Fish and other aquatic animals need clean homes to live in! We return to Saguaro Lake to pick up cans while SCUBA diving. Until I did this, I didn't know environmental cleanup could be so fun. More details will be posted later on.

"MOOSE-Head" beer, at a saloon called "GOAT-Head" ! Sounds like the ideal night out for animal lovers, right?! But seriously, I was already planning on hanging out at this bar (independent of the Gilbert Exotic Animal Encounter Meetup Group), and later decided, "What the hell?" So I'm announcing it here, in case any of you want to come to a bar with us; to talk about goats, mooses, dogs, iguanas, cats, scorpions, or any other animals. The DJ plays mainly 1980s music, which includes bands with animal names: Scorpions, Stray Cats, Germs, Pole Cats, Lime Spiders, Blow Monkeys, and more.
